My first blog

Hi and welcome to my first blog. I’m not sure where to start or what to write as I’m new to all this. I guess this blog will just be me getting all my thoughts and feelings out there instead of keeping them inside my mind. It’s good to talk so they say.

I guess the best thing to do is tell you all how my mental health issues started. I’ve been battling with depression and anxiety since 2017, which all started as a result of an operation on my foot as I suffered with arthritis. Not the best condition to have when you’ve been a postman for over 17 years walking between 10-15 miles a day. I was housebound for around 12 to 14 weeks while I recovered. From meeting people six days a week in my job to then having nothing during this time, just the same 4 walls day in day out to look out things started to go wrong for me, and fast. I’ve been struggling ever since, so much so that I even attempted suicide, I was ready to end it all. Thankfully I’m still here, still fighting and still going to try everything I can do best this and hopefully by doing this blog it will help others that are suffering too.

Thank you for your time and I hope reading this will help you in some way.

  1. I think it’s so great you’re doing this! It will definitely help others, and I really hope it helps you! I also have chronic health issues, along with the mental health ones. They really can feed off each other in a vicious cycle. I wish doctors would bring this up with people when they start dealing with physical health problems. I think a lot of people have no idea it can lead to mental health problems (or just how bad they can get), and they aren’t given tools to deal with it in the early stages, before it gets out of control. 😦 I’m so happy you are still here and fighting. I know we don’t know each other in real life, but I think of you and worry about you a lot! You’re so much stronger than you realize. I know how hard this road is, just always remember you aren’t traveling it alone, and it will get better! ((((HUGS))))

Well done Darren. Didn’t realise you used to work for Royal mail. I was there for 5 years from 2000 restructuring parcelforce. Great you have started the blog and hope it helps to get things down on paper. Keep going with the music it will help too.

    Well done, Darren.
I think this shows Mental Health Disorders can happen to anyone. I think a lot of peoples mental health has suffered during this pandemic.
    I’m glad you’re still here.
What helps you get through bad days?

    1. Thank you Claire. The pandemic has had a massive impact on so many people’s mental health. I was slowly on the mend until we went into lockdown but then I just went backwards. My wife keeps me going to be honest, also my kids and grandkids, knowing how devastated they would be if I wasn’t around anymore. I keep going for them
